Bill Cahill's passion for splash photography has been showcases everywhere from magazines to Time Square. In this behind-the-scenes episode the commercials photographer tackles an Ad-campaign for Peet's Coffee.
Peet's wanted 6 still and 5 motion shots to use in a new advertising campaign to celebrate their 50 years this year. Bill was tasked to capture these over a period of 3 days for the stills and 1 for the motion. Utilizing his expertise in splash and product photography and trial and error, Bill captures the necessary materials with a bit of his personal flare.
Stills were gathered with a Leaf Medium Format digital back, and motion with a Red Epic at 200fps - requiring 5, 12,000 watt Mole-Richardson Lights in very close proximity, resulting in difficult working conditions and even a melted expresso machine.
See how Bill captures the campaign for Peet's and just how much goes into one of those magazine ads you have seen.
